Northwest has partnered with Martha’s Table for over a decade. Our team participates by serving with McKenna’s Wagon. The team meets at Martha’s Table at the Maycroft (1474 Columbia Rd NW) at 4:30 to load the van and finishes up at 7:00 with unloading the van. Team members ride to multiple locations in the city to distribute hot healthy meals.

Northwest began a partnership with YoungLives in early 2019. In the spring we established a Baby Closet, which is maintained by donations from the NW community. This “closet” will be accessed by moms as needs arise, donations of diapers, clothing and other baby items can be made at anytime. Beginning in October 2019, NW church will be used for twice monthly DC Younglives club meetings. Club will run on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month from 6:00-7:45. Volunteers are needed provide dinner and childcare for moms and their children for club. Volunteer Mentors are also needed for this ministry.

YoungLives Mission:More than 20 years ago, Young Life answered God’s call to run headfirst into the chaos of teenage motherhood with the hope of Jesus … and YoungLives was born. YoungLives Mission:YoungLives has never wavered from the original vision to reach teen moms by entering their world, modeling the unconditional love of Christ, and encouraging them to become the women and mothers God created them to be. Through Young Life’s time-tested methods and life-on-life mentoring, teen moms are empowered to make positive choices, set and achieve goals, and live a future rooted in Christ.

Early in 2019 NW committed to partnering with the ongoing ministry of 3rd Street Church of God in serving our unhoused neighbors. We have committed to supplying 50 bagged lunches on the third Sunday of each month. Lunches are prepared at NWCC on Saturday at noon, and delivered on Sunday morning between 8:00-8:30 am. The meals are distributed following the 9:30 am service at 3rd St.

Volunteers can serve by contributing financially, picking up supplies, making lunches and/or delivering the bagged lunch to 3rd St Church. Please note that this is an extremely kid and family-friendly serving opportunity. Sign up as a family and get your kids excited about serving
