Does God Sing?

Most mornings I wake up to hear Jackson singing the latest song that has captured his attention. Sometimes, Kristie and I have to solve the mystery to figure out what the song is. He loves Kirk Franklin’s song “Hosanna” which he has been playing since Easter. On the other end of the spectrum he will sing “Last Christmas” by Wham all year long! This week as I was getting him ready for school out of the blue he asked me “Does God sing?” I said of course God sings. But then he asked “What does God sing?” That’s a question that I definitely knew the answer to… “He sings about Jackson” I said.

In Zephaniah 3:17 we are told that “The Lord your God in your midst…He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” I was so encouraged by the thought of God singing and rejoicing over my son! Throughout our series on the many and diverse gifts within the body of Christ, I have been thinking a lot about those with disabilities. If Paul is right that we all have something to bring to the body of Christ, then I have to believe that even those who the world may see as a burden are equally needed. God celebrates us – all of us. He sings over you and delights in you. And speaking of singing…as I was preparing these words, one of our members sent me this video. What a powerful reminder that every voice is important! Blessings, Pastor Dan
