My wife and I came to the District of Columbia in 2004 with a desire to be a part of a multi-ethnic congregation with potential to grow. Though it’s taken a tremendous amount of faith and hard work, God is blessing NWCC. I am seeing his hand in so many areas of the ministry. God is sending new persons into our community each month. New leaders are coming and serving. I feel so privileged to be a part of this movement of God.

I grew up in North Carolina, but I have lived and worked in the DC metro area for a total of nine years. Before my calling into the ministry and graduating from Anderson University School of Theology in 2004, I worked as a Research Engineer with the Dept. of Transportation.

As Pastor, I am responsible for seeking God’s will for NWCC and leading the church in response
This means that things are continually evolving. If you enjoy being on the cutting edge of where
God is working, you’ll enjoy NWCC. If you enjoy a church that is safe and very predictable,
then NWCC may not be the place for you.

I have always enjoyed music and have been a part of Gospel groups and Contemporary Christian bands in the past. The music at NWCC reflects my desire to have vibrant worship music that draws from the Gospel style, the contemporary style, and the traditional style. If you live in the Columbia Heights area, you can find me performing at Potbelly’s most Mondays from 12-2 as one of their live musicians.  Though we have a very capable group of musicians at NWCC, on a given Sunday you may still hear me playing the drums or guitar or singing a few lines.

I consider my preaching style somewhat of a relational style. Every sermon attempts to answer the question of “So What?”. Topics that I am most passionate in preaching about are God’s grace, the vision of community, unity (racial justice), and spiritual formation.

NWCC is a great place to be right now. The church is on focus with its God-given mission and
growing. I hope you’ll consider visiting us sometime soon!

Blessings,
Pastor Dan
